SOURCES OF FUNDING
2008
In 2008, the core operations of the PASOS Secretariat are supported by a € 102,041 grant from the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute, a further grant of € 102,041 from the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute for Policy Centres' Governance and the annual PASOS Assembly, € 37,200 from the International Visegrad Fund for the project, Evaluation of Democracy Assistance Policies and Priorities of the Visegrad Four countries, € 20,574 from the Open Society Institute Think-Tank Fund for the same project, and €15,000 in the form of annual membership fees.
Additional grants in 2008 include a € 54,421 grant from the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute for the project, Regional Study into Legal and Regulatory Obstacles to Poverty Reduction, and a grant of € 26,875 from the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute for the project, Improving the Governance, Quality and Impact of Independent Policy Centres.
2007
In 2007, the core operations of the PASOS Secretariat are supported by a € 117,187 grant from the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute. Additional funding in 2007 includes a grant of € 58,594 from LGI for the PASOS Assembly 2007/Skills and Training Fund, a grant of € 46,875 from LGI for the project, Strengthening the Policymaking Process in Kyrgyzstan, € 78,100 from LGI for the project, Innovative Policy Centres‘ Projects and Developing Standards in Policy Centres‘ Governance, € 12,150 from the International Visegrad Fund for the project, Evaluation of Democracy Assistance Policies and Priorities of the Visegrad Four countries, € 13,440 from the Open Society Institute Think-Tank Fund for the same project, € 5,000 from the European Parliament Directorate-General for External Policies of the Union for the report on The Challenge of the EU Development Co-operation Policy for New Member-States, and €13,500 in the form of annual membership fees.
2006
In 2006, the PASOS Secretariat received three grants (in total € 236,016) from the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute:
An additional € 11,998 of funding in 2006 came through PASOS annual membership fees (€ 500 per member).
The financial report for 2006 indicates that PASOS incurred total expenditures in 2006 of € 237,915 (2005: € 159,304), against total income of € 248,014 (€ 171,591), with cumulative reserves on 31 December 2006 of € 20,139 (€ 12,288). The year-end 2006 figures have been adjusted in line with the Czech National Bank exchange rates on 31 December 2006.
The PASOS Annual Report 2006 includes the independent auditor's report, and the income and expenditure for 2006, as well as year-end Assets and Liabilities.
2005
The PASOS Secretariat received a EUR 104,995 start-up grant from LGI/OSI (The Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative of the Open Society Institute) in 2005, and an additional grant from LGI/OSI for EUR 53,639 towards New Thinking for an Enlarged EU and the Neighbourhood - A Policy Centres Meeting, held in conjunction with the PASOS Assembly in Brussels on 3-5 November 2005, towards Strengthening the Transition to Democracy, a roundtable event with regional experts on the anniversary of Ukraine's Orange Revolution, held in Prague at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty on 7 December 2005, and the publication of PASOS Public Policy Centres - A Directory of Think-Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
An additional EUR 11,742 of funding in 2005 came through PASOS annual membership fees (EUR 500 per member).
All figures have been adjusted in line with the Czech National Bank exchange rates on 31 December 2005.
The audited accounts for 2005 showed a year-end surplus of € 12,288. The Auditor's report is attached, along with the PASOS Annual Report 2005, which includes Income & Expenditure figures for 2005, and year-end Assets and Liabilities.
