The newly born EFDP will try to improve Europe’s focus and capability in assisting democratic forces all around the world. This Foundation was created by a dozen of European non-governmental organizations and will serve as a networking body for these organizations, advocacy center as well as funding body. For more information please see document attached. Among supporting organizations there are Club de Madrid, FRIDE, Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy, DEMO Finland, People in Need Czech Republic and others.

The EFDP would like to use the occasion of the Assembly and is organizing one of the workshops in Kiev entitled „From Principles to Performance: How Can Europeans Enhance Their Support for Democracy Assistance Worldwide“. The aim of the workshop is to gather the experience of various European and non-European sources, governmental and non-governmental, in democracy promotion from various regions in the world, evaluate its successes and weak points and see the possibility for improvement or need for complementary work. The EFDP would like to become a networking point for all democracy promotion activities coming from Europe, complementing the current work of the governments, EU institutions and other non-governmental bodies. This workshop should help us find the gaps or problematic areas in European democracy promotion outside of Europe to be able to support it in future.
