The Position:
The Director is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Institute and directs, organises, and administers the programmes of the Institute in accordance with the policies established by the advisory board and the UNU Council.

Project Manager (Central Asia), LGI, Budapest, Hungary

The Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee its portfolio of activities in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan), and other parts of the transition region where OSI is active. Application deadline: July 20, 2008.
LGI's main areas of focus are: good governance, delivery of public services and urban management, improving public finance and intergovernmental relations, management of multiethnic communities, and local economic development. Most of LGI's activities are in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, with more recent initiatives taking root in such places as Indonesia and Peru.
The Project Manager would be responsible for country-specific, regional and thematic LGI projects, cooperation with and oversight of the public administration and local government programs at select Soros National Foundations, and the pursuit of creative ideas and activities to promote LGI’s mission.

The European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) is an international public interest law organisation defending and promoting the human rights of Roma. The ERRC pursues its goals through strategic litigation, international advocacy, research and policy development, and training. Established in 1996 and based in Budapest, the ERRC has an international Board of Directors, employs approximately 20 staff, as well as consultants and interns, and has an annual budget of over US$ 2.4 million.
